Transferring timelines

I am considering buying a new editing software, but as i understand it adobe premier pro is very expensive and requires a monthly subscription. Therefore i was wondering if you can create timelines in elements and then upgrade to premier to apply the finishing touches to the project.

SOS!!! How can I move my PPCS6 project into another HDD to keep working?

Please help!

I have the premiere of my documentary in 10 days and it’s not finished yet. I’m working full time…but PC’s HDD makes weird noises and fails often which provokes computer to restart…I’m afraid HDD is about to break for good.

I cannot risk and I bought a new HDD…but I’m not sure my PPCS6 will work well if I start working in a new HDD.
I’ve been reading all along and only solution I found it’s at "Project Manager"…but there it tells me "Resulting Project size (est.): 330 GB"…which it’s just insane.
I’m now backing up the Preview Files folder of the project into the new HDD, but I’m not sure it’s going to be enough.

Please! Anybody to put some light into this complicated situation!!
How can I keep working in my project at a new HDD and finish my documentary?

Thanks in advance for your help, it’s really needed now!

Miguel

Labels For DVDs

Hello All,
I was going to use the standard DVD labels but someone told me the speed the players get up to can cause a lot of heat causing paper to get into the machine. I did once get a label printed directly onto the disk but it was quite expensive, just wondered what your thoughts are?

Thank you as always,

Best wishes
Graeme

A PC to Replace 27” Imac for After effects, please help.

Hi Guys,

I have been googling and reading for ages, read a lot of opinions about this, but could not find the answer to my question, maybe you could help out.

Basically, I have an 27" Imac with:

Processor 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB

I work with After Effects and Premiere, occasionally dabbing into Cinema 4d, I use a lot of Element 3d and work alot with video.
My iMac seems ok, maybe I am expecting too much from it, but If my composition starts to be complicated, with Trapcode particular, Optical flares, then AFX slows down quite a bit. Am I expecting too much performance from my machine?

And now the most important question. I have come to the stage where I have to be on the move, so I am in need of a laptop, which should be at least as powerful as my Imac.

I am looking at something like this:

Dell Precision M6800
Intel® Core™ i7-4910MQ Processor (Quad Core 2.90GHz, 3.90GHz Turbo, 8MB 47W, w/HD Graphics 4600)
16GB6 DDR3L at 1600MHz
256GB 2.5inch SATA Solid State Drive
2tb 7200rmp Hard Drive
NVIDIA® Quadro® K4100M w/4GB GDDR5

The above is about £2000, so I would have to sell my Imac to get this.
Would a laptop like this perform well? I understand that a desktop workstation will always be better, but I am happy as long it would perform at least as good as my Imac.

Another option I have in mind is a compact pc:

Mini ITX – BitFenix Prodigy
Intel i7 4790K – (4 x 4.0 GHZ) – Haswell
Corsair Vengeance Pro Red 16GB PC3-19200 2400 MHz (2x8GB)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 – 4 GB – (MSI) – (PCI-E)
With both a 7200rpm 2tb, and a 250gb SSD.

I have always worked with macs, so I am really scared to switch to windows, but these computers blow my Imac out of the water, according to their specs.

Is Windows possible to work with smoothly, with no lagging or handing, is it as stable and reliable as Mac OSX? Is the notion that a PC will overheat, overclog a myth? Its a very important step in my career, as I would have to sell my Imac and switch to Windows straight away…

Please advise

Thank you.
George 🙂

Masking Issue – Showing transparent on Youtube

Hello everyone.

New on the forum, mainly because i wanted to ask some advice on the issue im currently having.
I have been given some footage of a pianist, i have been asked to fix the issues it has, as the ‘finished’ product he was given wasn’t at all finished.

A big problem was a white power lead trailing up the side of black piano… didn’t look good. I did a very simple mask to overlay to hide the cable.

All looked great on my iMac… exported for youtube, looked fine on youtube, until the guy looked at them on his laptop and the
are where i covered the cable is showing as ever so slightly transparent. You can see the cable under the mask.

I checked to obvious, had i caught the opacity or something, but no all fine. The link is here – http://ift.tt/1wimNFX

As i say, it looks fine on my imac, phone, ipad… but on his and my friends pc, it shows up.

Can people see the white cable on the right hand side? If so what the hell could it be? Why showing on some screens but not others?

Hi I wonder how to remove person, for instance from http://ift.tt/1l5pA4l
and then replace him/her with other person dancing same song on green screen to look good. How to O.o also I quess lighting effects-good settings of it would be crucial ( mine has to be exact as in the raw video). I also got sometimes white dots on the screen – wonder what it is..
